Conversion rate optimisation: more enquiries from the visitors you already have
More traffic won’t help if the page doesn’t turn visitors into calls. We find where people leave, fix what’s stopping them, and test the changes so you know what actually worked. Often it’s the cheapest growth you’ll ever get.
| Step | Visitors | Drop-off |
|---|---|---|
| Landed on page | 1,000 | – |
| Scrolled to prices | 420 | 58% |
| Clicked call or form | 61 | 85% |
| Sent the form | 18 | 70% |
Example funnel: the biggest leak is between the page and the form.
01 / THE IDEA
Why conversion comes before more traffic
Say 1,000 people visit your service page each month and 1% of them get in touch. That’s 10 enquiries. You can try to double the traffic, which takes time or ad money, or you can get the page converting at 2%. Both give you 20 enquiries, but the second one costs far less and keeps working.
Conversion rate optimisation (CRO) means finding out why visitors leave without calling, and fixing it. It also makes every other channel better value: your SEO, Google Ads and social ads all send people to the same pages.
02 / COMMON LEAKS
Where Irish websites usually lose enquiries
No clear next step
The phone number is hidden in the footer, or there are five different buttons. Visitors need one obvious action.
No price, no proof
People leave to find a business that shows a price range, reviews and real photos of work. Why we publish prices
Slow on a phone
Most local searches happen on phones. A page that takes five seconds to load loses people before they see anything. Speed guide
Long, fussy forms
Ten fields and a CAPTCHA for a simple quote request. Every extra field costs you enquiries.
Generic copy
“Quality service at competitive prices” says nothing. Visitors want to know you do their exact job, in their area.
Ads to the homepage
Paid clicks sent to a general homepage instead of a page that matches what they searched for. Google Ads
03 / THE PROCESS
How we do it
01
Measure
Set up tracking for calls, forms and key clicks so we know the real starting point. Tracking
02
Find the leaks
Analytics, scroll and click maps, session recordings and a page-by-page review to see where people stop.
03
Fix and test
Change one important thing at a time: headline, button, form, proof or layout. Test it against the original where traffic allows.
04
Keep what works
Roll out the winners, write down what we learned, and move on to the next biggest leak.

05 / HONEST TESTING
Testing properly, even with small traffic
Big companies run dozens of A/B tests at once. Most Irish small businesses don’t have enough visitors for that, and a “test” run on 200 visits can tell you the wrong thing.
So we’re honest about it. With low traffic, we fix the clear problems first (the hidden phone number, the missing price, the slow page) because they don’t need a test to prove them. We only run proper A/B tests on pages with enough visitors to give a reliable answer, and we tell you how confident the result is.
A quick test you can do today
Open your main service page on your phone. Can you see what you do, where you work and how to contact you without scrolling? If not, that’s your first fix.

07 / FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Frequently asked questions
What is a good conversion rate?
It depends on the industry, the price of the job and where the visitor came from. Urgent services like emergency trades convert much better than big-ticket projects that people research for weeks. The useful question is whether your rate is improving month by month.
Can CRO bring more enquiries without spending more on ads?
Yes. That’s the main point of it. It gets more from the visitors you already pay for or rank for.
Do I need a new website for CRO?
Usually not. Most gains come from changes to existing pages. If the site is very slow or hard to edit, a new website can be the better option.
Are click maps and recordings GDPR-friendly?
They can be, if set up properly: personal details masked, a cookie notice that covers them, and recordings deleted after a set period. We set them up that way.
